CSC Vehicle Hire Ltd – Terms and Conditions
- Cancellations
- Any cancellations made within 72 hours of the hire date will be charged at the full hire price.
- Booking and Payments
- A non-refundable booking deposit of £50 is required at the time of booking. Dates are not secured until this payment is received.
- The £50 deposit may be transferred to an alternative hire date if required.
- The remaining balance of the hire cost is due three (3) days prior to the hire date.
- A security deposit of £100 is required upon vehicle collection. This will be refunded in full only if the vehicle is returned in acceptable condition.
- Collection and Return
- Vehicles may be collected and returned between 08:00 and 20:00 from: 57 West End, West Calder, EH55 8EJ.
- Collections or returns made outside these hours without prior arrangement will incur a £20 per hour charge.
- CSC Vehicle Hire Ltd will confirm collection and return times two (2) days prior to hire.
- Vehicle Condition and Fuel
- The vehicle must be returned with a full tank of fuel.
- If the vehicle is misfuelled, the hirer is liable for the full cost of repairs.
- The cab, horse area, and groom’s area must be returned clean. A £50 cleaning fee will be deducted from the deposit if any additional cleaning is required.
- Sawdust/shavings must be used whenever a horse is transported.
- Driver and Insurance Requirements
- Drivers must be aged 23–75 years old.
- Drivers aged 23–24 must pay a £550 security deposit.
- Drivers must have no more than 6 points on their licence.
- The following must be provided before collection:
- A valid driver’s licence.
- DVLA check code.
- Two (2) forms of proof of address.
- Payment must be made from the driver’s own bank account to CSC Vehicle Hire’s account for insurance purposes.
- Additional drivers can be added for a fee of £25.
- Liability and Damages
- The hirer is liable for all damage caused by themselves or their livestock.
- If repair costs exceed the deposit, the hirer will be invoiced for the balance (e.g., if repairs cost £400, CSC Horsebox Hire will retain the £100 deposit and invoice £300).
- The hirer is liable for the full insurance excess in the event of an accident.
- The hirer is responsible for all road traffic and parking offences during the hire period.
- The hirer is liable for the full cost of repairs if any damage is caused by the horse(s) during transport.
- Equine and Vehicle Recovery
- In the event of an accident, equine recovery services will arrange transport for both the horse and the horsebox.
- The cost of this service will be charged to the hirer.
- Full recovery details are provided in the emergency contact list located on the driver’s side window.
- Weight Limits
- The vehicle has a payload of 1,000 kg.
- It is the hirer’s responsibility to ensure this limit is not exceeded.
- Risk and Responsibility
- Horses are transported entirely at the hirer’s own risk. Hirers should have their own equine insurance for transportation. CSC Horsebox Hire accepts no liability for livestock transported.
- Any equipment, tack, or belongings transported are done so at the hirer’s own risk.
- Vehicles left on CSC Vehicle Hire premises during the hire period are left entirely at the hirer’s own risk.
- Mileage
- Daily mileage is limited to 200 miles per day.
- Any mileage beyond this limit will incur a surcharge of 50p per mile.
